Those generous folks at Nightshifters are treating us all to yet another Free EP this week by none other than their very own resident mad man, and probably highest profile artist (Thanks to some stellar previous EPs and BBC Essential Mix slots) Hostage. Today brings an insane new track from Scotland's most beloved rave lunatic Hostage. There is so much going on in this latest remix with Hostage covering multiple genres in just 5 minutes, utilising funky drums and percussion, grimey synths and sirens, a euphoric rave breakdown and fidgety bass stabs. Totally expected, complete and utter madness once again from Hostage!

Here's a grab-bag of some latest tunes from everyones favourie mad scot DJ and producer, Hostage. Much darker and different to his more recent bass excursions, Hostage dabbles in a whole bunch of genres evening combining them in his track 'Dubtch' which is best described as a Dutch house meets Dubstep hybrid.

Last week saw Hostage join Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1's prestigious Essential Mix with both DJs performing live from Edinburgh on Friday. The folks at Nightshifters, home to Hostage, have managed to upload the mix for any of you who missed it (or unable to use the iplayer!), and as a Brucie Bonus Alan has provided the pudding with a brand new track 'Skin Out' ready for you to download now. Possibly Nightshifters biggest release to date 'Valhalla' by Hostage finally gets its release today. Not only chock-a-block full of original epic efforts from the Scottish star, this release comes backed with some awesome remixes from Chicago legend Angel Alanis with his deep house cut, some Baltimore bass touches from Rampage, some bouncy juke from Chrissy Muderbot and the ravetatstic monster from Momma's Boy. This is an epic release, with Hostage taking each of his tracks in different directions, and the remix talent taking things further afield with their interpretations, but the proof is in the pudding so buy it now! Mr Hostage has got in touch yet again with a new mixtape, his aptly named Sunburn Mix '09 (should have put on plenty of sunscreen Alan!) which in his own words "Covers the whole spectrum, from wobble to bang-bang!". Hostage has been busy doing the festival circuits the last few weeks, but expect more productions soon including his remix of Foamo's 'Wardance' which is forthcoming on Skint.
