You Nose Me Better

Phra
of Crookers fame has been in touch about some of his latest exploits, along with Bot they have just recently finished a highly successful Australian Tour and have now gone straight back into the studio for a number of projects including remixes for Radioclit, Busy P and 3 remixes for Moby!, and even another full EP which will be released by Southern Fried including a collaboration with Kid Kudi. But for now this will have to satisfy your Crookers hunger, Phra has a done an awesome job here with his own edit the new N*E*R*D track 'Everybody Nose', this just blows up the best parts of the track and is gauranteed to destroy the dancefloors!

So soon after his previous EPs mention in the last post, René van Munster has been back and dropped off some tasters of yet another forthcoming EP he has lined up! The 'Feed Me EP' is gonna be out this month on Prompt Digital LA.

Clark Able's latest EP 'Lemon head' is very close to getting its release after a few minor setbacks. Out on ESP Records this highly anticipated release comes backed with awesome remixes from fidget house heavyweights Crookers and HiJack. He was also kind enough to send over his remix of When Saints Go Machine's track 'Kids On Vacation' for you guys to have listen too!

I really should have mentioned this next record quite a while ago now. Its been in my charts for some time and has gathered a lot of attention recently, I am of course talking about Róisín Murphy's latest single 'You Know Me Better'. This has just been released on multiple formats including remixes from Toddla T, Nightmoves, Samim Guy Williams and Trevor Loveys all delivering something for everyone's tastes. 'You Know Me Better' is out now on EMI available on multiple formats from Juno and Phonica.

UK Grime pioneer Dizzee Rascal's 'Sirens' from latest album Maths & English is set for its US release on Def Jux this month, and were also treated to a couple of extra brand new remixes too! The Acid Girls Remix is set to be included on the release, and heres a bonus remix from LA's Black Lights.

Last track of the day was sent by good friend and loyal follower of Electric Zoo, Brazilian Baile-Funk Guru Edu K. He has done a smasher of a remix for Tel Aviv based artist Emily Karpel, and has even done guest vox on the track himself!

You guys in the capital this week have some great nights of music ahead of you. First up on Wednesday (9th April), is Troublestock at The End. Troublestock was organised by Chew the Fat in aid of its founder and breakbeat pioneer, Paul ‘Trouble’ Arnold, who was diagnosed with Leukaemia in the closing months of 2007 and upon hearing the news, many of the world’s finest DJs have leapt at the opportunity to help out their friend who has done more than almost anyone in helping establish breakbeat as the major player it is today in dance music. The night is hosting a huge lineup of DJs including Plump DJs Vs. Stanton Warriors, Krafty Kuts Vs. Freestylers, Evil Nine Vs. Elite Force in the main room, James Zabellia Vs. Nic Fanciulli, Paul Woolford Vs. Yousef, Rob Da Bank and more in Room 2 and wonky house heroes Speaker Junk, Count Of Monte Cristal, Sinden and Kissy Sell Out preparing to pack out the dancefloor in the lounge, this may well be the gig of the year.
Also this week Fabric has a monster of a night lined up with Annie Mac hosting Room One with guests Sam Sparro, Ajax, Yuksek and Blaise Bellbille. Stanton Warriors, BBC Soundsystem (XXChange, Devlin & Darko), Duke Dumont & Patchwork Pirates will be rocking Room Two, while Filthy Dukes, The Black Ghosts, Skull Juice & Joe Ransom take control of Room Three. Definetly a good week to be in London guys!

Stingy

The Count and Sinden's 'Beeper' has finally dropped, and to celebrate its release Domino are giving away the Detboi Remix for free through their MySpace page! The CD single also comes backed with a brand new B-Side 'Stinging Nettle' and theres always more on its way with these guys, Herve has just remixed the new Bumblebeez single 'Rio', and the Machines Don't Care project is almost upon us!! I still don't have too much information about this, except that its a huge collaboration project between some of the greatest producers on the scene right now including Switch, Sinden, Herve, Trevor Loveys, Detboi, Affie Yusuf, Fake Blood, Drop The Lime, Duke Dumont, Toddla T and possibly even more. 'Beeper' by The Count and Sinden is out now on Domino and available Here, 'Rio' by Bumblebeez with Remixes from Herve, Crookers and Etienne De Crecy is out now on Modular and available Here.

Jesse Rose's Made To Play Records have released their new single 'The Deacon' by Idiotproof, a new project between Bristol house heroes Deepgroove and Jamie Anderson. This release comes with heavy remix backup from fellow Made To Play signing Oliver $, and an absolute killer from Duke Dumont. I hope to hear a lot more from The Duke this year with his involvement with Machines Don't Care, and of course his forthcoming EP, 'Dominion Dubs' which is coming soon on Dubsided! 'The Deacon' by Idiotproof is out now on Made To Play Records and available from Juno and Phonica.

Trouble & Bass have just released Boy 8-Bit's latest single 'Fog Bank' along with remixes from Jack Beats and Acid Jacks. But its the original I love the most here a misty bassline cut up with baltimore breaks and savagely stabbing synths! We should be expecting Boy 8-Bit's debut for Diplo's Mad Decent dropping soon which will include his already underground hit 'Suspense Is Killing Me', and new track 'The Cricket Scores'. Download 'Fog Bank' by Boy 8-Bit on Trouble & Bass from Beatport now.

Foamo has also sent out his latest remix work hes completed for London based band Primary 1. The guy has done a great job creating a dancefloor destroyer out of this track check it out now!

René van Munster has got in touch with some new about his latest release the 'Sharp Please EP' on Beautycase Records. René also has another the 'You Like EP' forthcoming on Two Tracker Records, but The 'Sharp Please EP' is out and available in full from Juno or Beatport.

Here's one last one from Dolby Anol, they have recently worked their magic over The Futureheads latest punk nugget 'Crash'.

Watch My Feet

Hey all, just enough time for a quick update this week! First up are the HeavyFeet boys, who were only mentioned on the blog not so long ago and now have their debut release on Potty Mouth Music on the horizon! The boys have also fantastically remixed a track for Geoff K which you can get at Junodownload now, but the 'Sick Like That EP' from HeavyFeet featuring Switch MC is what you should really be licking your lips for! The 'Sick Like That EP' by HeavyFeet is digitally released on the 3rd Of March on Potty Mouth Music and available from Junodownload, Beatport or Stompy, with a vocal mix, dub and Remix from Santiago & Bushido.

This next track comes from an old friend of mine, who's been mixing, producing and blogging for a long time and now with a new name, hes back with a new sound. Honeymoonchild's debut, the beautifully titled 'Loose Lips Sink Ships' is going to be released on ESP records (also home to Nic Sarno) and hopefully available this month, backed with a remix from Italian Love Supreme. In the meantime have a listen to Honeymoonchild's track 'Moneymaker' and check out his blog for more honeymoonchild.net

Thanks again to the great people at Fabric for yet another awesome promo. Fabric Live 39 sees the Cut N Paste Captain, DJ Yoda take the helm for their legendary compilation series. Ive always been a fan of DJ Yoda and this mix is very different to any other Yoda mix tapes you may have heard.. this is straight up Yoda club stuff, no gimmicks, simply eclecticism at its best! and what you would hear him play live.. So if you like eclectic music and a fusion of old meets new, this is seriously recommended, as Yoda is a bit of a genre buster and dishes out classic hip hop, dubstep, baile funk, indie, grime, drum n bass, Baltimore and jungle in this monster mash of a compilation! Below is a small snippet of a taster of what to expect from the turntable maestro. Fabric Live 39 : DJ Yoda is available from all good record stores from the 7th April. More info on the compilation HERE.

Ive written about The Ghost Frequency a couple of times now, and its a great pleasure to do so again, especially when the remixes are this hot! Their tongue twistingly titled latest single 'Never Before Have I Seen A Man Alive That Looks So Exactly Like A Skeleton' has been backed with some class remixes by Destroy Disco, Cutting Pink With Knives and the Zombie Disco Squad, and Barney from the band has got in touch with these for you lot to listen to..

Ive been sitting on a couple of great tracks from 3 Is A Crowd for a while now, and with all the struggle of keeping this blog going! I completely forgot to mention them! Well, I will not let these tracks die in a dark corner of my computer, I will bring them to the masses! first up a corking Congorock remix that blows the roof off with its rolling drums and bassline, and 'Guns' a 3 Is A Crowd track with such an anthemic breakdown!

Good pal of the blog Wongo is still going from strength to strength with continuous production and remix work that just keep on coming! Here are some his latest beauties and keep an eye out for plenty more remixes coming soon from Wongo!

Lee Mortimer aka the Sawtooth Sucka, and head honcho of Wearhouse Music has got in touch to bring good news about the label's latest release. Its the Sawtooth Sucka's turn this month to get a spotlight on this rising label's releases. This is a great EP with a good variation of tracks, including a remix from Scott Cooper and my favourite track of the EP 'Backing Town' which uses some real quirky samples which shouldn't work yet brilliantly do! Lee sent round these previews of the EP and check out Junodownload or Stompy for the full 'Don't Forget About Lee EP' by the Sawtooth Sucka which is out now.

Wearhouse Music artist, and Moda resident Scott Cooper has also sent me his latest mix set he has managed to find time to do, between all the production work hes been doing recently including a follow up to his Wearhouse EP (including a HiJack Remix), and remix work for Wearhouse and Jack Union. Check out this great mix for some hot new music we are more than likely to see in the future!

Pure Gold

A Trak's Fool's Gold Records, a force to be reckoned with in 08 have finally released two new EPs. The long awaited debut 'Yall Know The Name' EP from Ottawa's finest party starters and good friends of the blog, Jokers Of The Scene including remixes from Flosstradamus, The Nacho Lovers and William Russell, and also Kid Cudi's 'Day N Nite' EP, a big favourite of many tastemakers out there, backed with remixes from Jokers Of The Scene and Crookers. The label have some great things lined up for the coming months, including some new signings, and a second EP from Jokers Of The Scene with some remix work from Brodinski, Boy 8-Bit, Destroy Disco and Andy George in the pipeline 'Yall Know The Name' by Jokers Of The Scene, and 'Day N Nite' by Kid Cudi are both out now on Fool's Gold Recs and available to download at Juno or Turntable Lab.

Southern Fried Records have also started the year off with a big bang with their new signings, and no strangers to this blog Crookers. Their 'Knobbers' EP has just been released on the UK label and demonstrates how the Italians are taking it up a level for 2008! Southern Fried have also signed Riva Starr who's had some previous releases through Front Room and Dirtybird, and his 'Scratch N Sniff' EP shows hes capable of delivering wonky bassline filled club tracks just as well as his minimal infused productions. The 'Knobbers' EP from Crookers is out now and available at Juno on 12" or download, and Riva Starr's 'Scratch N Sniff' is forthcoming on the label.

We've all heard the superb showcase of forthcoming club bangers in the Count & Sinden's Essential Mix, and its almost time were treated to their official release of 'Beeper' featuring Fools Gold's treasure Kid Sister, out on Domino Records. I still the play the original version quite a lot, and its a shame they had to re-record some of the vocals, assumingly for copyright reasons, but really this track is sounding better than ever! Kid Sis' vocals work so well on this track, and the accompanying remixes are world class, with A Trak, Detboi, Sunship and Fake Blood (Who also have a release forthcoming on Dave Taylor's Counterfeet) all doing a great job. Mr Harvey has also just released his debut EP as The Young Lovers, a more of a jazz tip that further expreses his roots and vast musical influences, and as Herve and as The Count Of Monte Cristal along with Sinden have remixed plently of tracks for the coming months. 'Beeper' by The Count Of Monte Cristal & Sinden featuring Kid Sister is forthcoming on Domino, 'Love You Madly' by The Young Lovers is out now on Loungin and available on 12" from Juno or Phonica.

Mowgli has stuck to his promise of a new bootleg every month, following on from the success of his last dabble with The Chemical Brothers' 'Do It Again'. This month hes worked his magic on Benny Benassi's 'Satisfaction' with great results! Stay tuned for a new bootleg from Mowgli every month!

HeavyFeet are a UK based production and DJ duo, who have been busy in the studio for 2008, conjuring up tracks remixes and bootlegs aswell as working with a number of MCs. They have just remixed the new track from The Loose Cannons, after recently being featured on their KISS FM show, so they have kindly sent over the mixset they did for KISS and the remix along with some of their fantastic bootlegs theyve cleverly knocked up. HeavyFeet also have a forthcoming EP on Potty Mouth Music.

Tracklisting:
Nate Manic - 'It's Never Easy (HeavyFeet's Taking It Easy Dub)'
Timbaland vs. HeavyFeet - 'Give It To Me'
Santiago And Bushido - 'Head Trick'
HeavyFeet w/Peyote MC - 'Rude Bwoi'

HeavyFeet w/ Switch MC - 'Sick (Like That)'
HeavyFeet w/ Switch MC - 'Sick (Like That) (Dub Mix)'
Baobinga & ID Feat. Virus Syndicate - 'Jump Up Get Hype (HeavyFeet's Raving Re-shuffle)'

A bit of a change of pace of the usual Electric Zoo tunage now, heres some nice laidback funky tracks produced by the DFA duo James Murphy and Tim Goldsworthy. The Duo have put their mark on M.I.A.'s iconic Clash samplin' masterpiece 'Paper Planes', giving it a slick laidback slack bassline, and Tim has also remixed the latest single from Mark Ronson's triumphant 'Versions' album, he has spaced out 'Just' featuring Phantom Planet under his The Loving Hand guise. 'Paper Planes (Homeland Security Remixes)' by M.I.A. is out now via XL and available from Juno Download, and 'Just' by Mark Ronson featuring Phantom Planet is also out now and available on a lovely 10" at Juno.

Matt Nordstrom has got in touch with his latest offering, a bootleg of Run DMC's 'Its Like That' thats been getting support from Tittsworth and Dave Nada. This is a great production that uses a slowly rising bassline, with cleverly marked stabs that bring in the full flavour of the original track, check it out.

Lastly, heres a mixset I was sent from Bones yet another act from Sydney Australia. This set is packed full of some awesome new unreleased tracks, and a lovely taster of whats to come in the next few months!

Destroy!

Aussie 3-some of producers slash DJs Destroy Disco have sent me a smashing new live set, recorded from a gig last week. There are some huge dancefloor destroyers and incredibly seemless mixing in this extremely enjoyable 50 minutes, so I can only imagine the level of crazy the crowd were at! Destroy Disco only came to my attention at the arse end of last year, with some of their impressive own productions, and Im glad to say they are very busy doing a lot more remix work for the likes of Malente, Jokers Of The Scene and The Ghost Frequency. Some Electric Zoo favourites! and also their 'Fly Or Bounce EP' has been signed to Bart B More's Secure Records so look out for it soon.

Brabe Bonanza

Young Bram Faber aka Brabe has been very busy in the last couple of weeks, but thankfully has found the time to put together an exclusive New Years mix for Electric Zoo. Brabe first came to my attention in the second half of last year with his very interesting fidget/minimal house that has very unique influences. This mixtape is a showcase of what the guy's all about, his taste in house and a taste of his newer prodcutions we should be hearing very soon!
