Next week sees Gerry Read's final record for his trilogy of releases on Fourth Wave. Things have been getting progressively deeper from the outset, and 'All By Myself' follows suit, carelessly building and chopping through dusty Chicago House loops, this time equipping full, inebriated and broody male vocals for full effect. A glorifying end to an excellent trilogy, but I guarantee this is just the beginning for Gerry Read. 'All By Myself' by Gerry Read is out on Fourth Wave from the 12th December.
Next month, fresh from celebrating his 19th birthday young Gerry Read delivers his second in a trilogy of records for Fourth Wave. Both tracks on this edition are beautiful productions taking the listener through blissed out, techy garage dreamscapes. 'We Are / Narry' by Gerry Read is out on Fourth Wave on the 7th November.
Fourth Wave, a sub label of Ramp Recordings have their imminent second release about to drop from Gerry Read, a mysterious 18 year old multi-instrumentalist who is no stranger to the blog, already featuring in a couple of previous posts. This record however, does see a departure of the stepped beats from his previous records, and heads deep into dark Detroit house territory, a landscape formed by layers and layers of samples playfully chopped to perfection. 'Untitled/Legs' by Gerry Read is out on Fourth Wave and available from 15th August.
Dark Arx Recordings, whose catalogue of dub/techno/garage crossovers I've been following quite closely the past few months have a very special record out next week from one of their lead artists Gerry Read. This follow up to his previous 'Patterns EP' is a vinyl only affair with brand new A side 'Last Time' taking a well deserved spotlight, a fresh and emotive slice of house that tinkers with the sounds of 2-step and golden era US house music. Gerry's impeccable production hasn't gone unnoticed either, already getting plays from Ben UFO, Untold, Gilles Peterson, MJ Cole and more, and if that's not enough, its backed with 'Patterns' the title track from the aforementioned EP on the flip side. Stream previews of this great record below, and as a bonus here's the latest Dark Arx Podcast which you can stream or download below.
Been keeping a close eye on Dark Arx Recordings this year, and I suggest you folks do the same, with only 2 releases under their belt this label focuses on new talent around the fringes of dubstep and techno, and previous EPs from Binary Sequence and Dark Arx have been triumphunt in showcasing this. Next up is an EP from Gerry Read a new, and already in demand producer (thanks to interest from a few big labels), certainly one to watch in 2011. The 'Patterns EP' is a solid record with the brilliant title track raising the bar from the outset, 'Dreamer' really mixes things up with a completely different formula, and the EP finishes with 'Climb' an all-out corrosive dubstep attack. The 'Patterns EP' by Gerry Read is out on Dark Arx Recordings on November 22nd.
