Nightmares
World famous label City Rockers have been working with new band The Ghost Frequency and their upbeat blends of electro rock. Its a forward thinking, refreshing mix of genres that the label find so tasty, that they've decided to put on a club night Subhumanoid Meltdown to bring together similar DJs and artists. Playing Booty Bass, Ghettotech, Fidget House, Electro and everything in between their first night will be this Thursday the 26th @ Plastic People, Curtain Road, London. For their debut night they've managed to rope in Speaker Junk (Who have also remixed The Ghost Frequency's first single), Zombie Disco Squad, Player Player as well as a live performance from The Ghost Frequency! Subhumanoid Meltdown 26/07/07 @ Plastic People, Curtain Road, London, 10PM-3AM, £5 entry.

The kind people at Outpost Media have just sent me an upfront copy of a brand new mix compilation 'Maximize!' from Berlin based premier DJ/Producer Shir Khan. This is the first release on his label Exploited and is a blog house mash up of epic proportions! If someone asked me for a quick guide to what blog house is all about, then this CD would be a perfect explanation featuring many bloggers favourites with tracks and remixes from SMD, Sirius Mo, Justice, Yuksek, Riot In Belgium, Duke Dumont, Crookers, Herve, Shadowdancer and of course some exclusive remixes and mash ups from Shir Khan himself. The double CD compilation is set for release on the 17th of September, but one of you lucky readers can win a copy by answering the following question:

'Shir Khan shares his name with a character from which famous Rudyard Kipling story?'

Send your answers, along with your name and address to electriczooblog@gmail.com with 'Shir Khan Comp' as the subject. Closing date for entries is the 8th August and a winner will be chosen at random.

21 Minutes To Flow
The powers that be at BBC Radio 1 have finally gone and got themselves an awesome new DJ as a resident! This weekend saw Kissy Sell Out takeover the British airwaves and even the world (Via the web) with his debut 'In New DJs We Trust' show, and he will return every four weeks to blow our minds with more upfront underground electro anthems, and guest DJ mixes from the creme de la creme. And who could possibly be a better talent to enlist for Kissy's debut than the Count Of Monte Cristal himself Herve. Unfortunately I was in no fit state to be tuning into the show in the early hours of Sunday morning but thank the heavens for the glorious BBC's listen again feature, I was able to shake off the hangover by bouncing to this cracking 21 minute mix, and so that I can bounce to my heart's content in future weeks to come I recorded it too, not amazing sound quality, but the music is unbeatable! Listen again to the whole show HERE!

All Crooked Up
Phra of Crookers has got in touch with some awesome new tunes and news of whats in store from the boys. First up is their incredible remix of Dusty Kid's 'The Cat' which is soon to be dropped on Southern Fried Records, and also a bit later we will see their remix of Armand Van Helden's 'We Want your Soul' again released on the same label. Phra was also kind enough to send me this remix of the new single from Diabolico Coupè, and the guys from Riotmaker in Italy have also sent me a couple of tasty promos including this very nice crunk remix of Carnifull Trio again by the busy Crookers Duo! If that's not enough to wet your appetite, expect more Crookers remixes of Doublebeat, Magik Johnson, Brodinski and I'm pleased to say that the boys are also very busy finishing their debut 'Italian' album! Look out for Crookers appearing on forthcoming releases on Southern Fried Records very soon.

On the British side of the fidget world the crafty crew have been busy as usual working on their projects including this neat blazing raving remix from Josh Harvey and Trevor Loveys as Speaker Junk. Sinden has produced a heavy remix of To My Boy's latest single 'Model' which you can find over @ Fluokids. If any of you are fidget fanatic's like myself you should definitely check out the exclusive interviews with Josh Harvey, Jesse Rose and The Bulgarian over @ Disturbed beats. There's some great news about Josh Harvey's upcoming projects which include 3 artist albums! as well as a very interesting and upfront chart from the man himself. Limited promos of 'Mr DJ' by Charlean Dance are out now and available to buy from Juno.

In the last post I mentioned rising talent Riva Starr, well before I knew it his debut has been released on Jesse Rose's Front Room Recordings. This is a very good debut with some hypnotising warped beats that have more bounce to the ounce than Beth Ditto. 'Thizzle' by Riva Starr is out now on Front Room Recordings and available to buy now from Juno and Phonica.

Again mentioned once before in my last post, On The Brink Records have again put out new shit on their digital label. Clark Able from Bologna, Italy has a new EP to be released on the label which includes 3 tracks 'Change It', 'I Wanna' and 'My Last Charter'. Look out for Clark Able's debut release on On The Brink Recordings and available from Juno Download.

Another star who's had his debut release this week is his royal highness, Duke Dumont with his 'Regality EP' on Tiga's Turbo Recordings. This masterful EP features anthemic underground hits 'When I Hear Mu'Sic', 'Lean & Bounce' and also 'Final Level' which is on more of an electric tip along the lines of Shadow Dancer or Simian Mobile Disco. The 'Regality EP' by Duke Dumont is out now on Turbo and available to buy now from Juno and Phonica.

Full Nelson
Those suplexin' DJs GrecoRoman (Joe Hot Chip, Alex !K7 and more!) have set up their own label GrecoRoman Music and this month sees the release of 'Round 1' better known as 'Oi New York, This Is London' by LDN based Gameboy Maestro David E. Sugar. This label has kicked off its business with a superb debut release backed with a tag team of heavyweight Remixes! Skream takes the original on a spooky electro dub trip, Jesse Rose tackles it with a Garage Dub, and Hot Chip team up with Ragga Twins producing a blazing Ragga inspired electro bash-up! 'Oi New York, This Is London' by David E. Sugar is out now on GrecoRoman Music and is available to buy now on 12" from Pure Groove.

OK, lets get the latest fidget music out of the way then.. Soon to be released is Mr Hudson & The Library's next single 'Ask The DJ' which has been handed on to Sinden & Count Of Monte Cristal to completely re-invent, and re-invent they did. Transforming a below average pop song into a huge 4/4 garage summer anthem! I'm really liking this sound they are brewing at the moment its a sort of garage revival that started with 'Beeper' and their remix of 'Body Baby'. Busy as ever, Sinden has also remixed the next Chromeo single 'Tenderoni' this time in true fidget fashion with strobing basslines and jumpy vocals, and Herve is also working hard remixing the next Chemical Brothers single 'The Salmon Dance' (Crookers have also been working on this one too!) which sounds absolutely incredible, head on over to his MySpace for a taste right now!. 'Ask The DJ' by Mr Hudson & The Library is out now on Mercury which you can pick up on Juno, but we'll have to wait for the Sinden & Count Of Monte Cristal Remix I'm afraid! 'Tenderoni' by Chromeo is out now on Backyard and available from Juno.

Growing electro and fidget based label On The Brink Recordings have beefed up their catalogue over the last few months with some amazing music! Now boasting artists like Crookers, The Bulgarian & Hi Jack this label is something we should all be keeping an eye on! Their most recent release is from South Africa's 'The Bulgarian' (How weird is that to say?) with his 'Ignition EP', a nice variation of fidget tracks ranging from cheeky laid back grooves like 'It's Brunch' and all out dancefloor smashers like 'Uptown Jack'. Also out now is debut release from promising signing Full Phat with his awesome 'Does Anyone Know? EP' and also some brand new remixes of Full Phat and their debut artists Hi Jack by new signing Detboi. The 'Ignition EP' by The Bulgarian, and 'Does Anyone Know? EP' by Full Phat are out now on On The Brink Recordings and are available to download now from Juno along with many of their other tracks!

Electric Zoo favourite William Russell has got quite an impressive collection of remixes behind him with some amazing work done on tracks by LCD Soundsystem, Lady Sovereign, Timbaland, Lil Mama and Lily Allen to name a few.. I really love this guys sound, its obvious hes got a lot of influences from the sort of urban electro artists like Dave Taylor, Sinden and Diplo but his sound is still very very unique unlike many artists who are so influenced by their heroes of music that their own tunes eventually sound too much like theirs. Here's his latest offering, an awesome remix of 'A Bay Bay' by Hurricane Chris.

Here's another star (avoid the pun) to look out for. Riva Starr has records forthcoming on Dirtybird and Front Room Recordings and has some very impressive tunes to be boasting about. Check out his MySpace for some samples of his great music, and I can't really find much more to say about him from his page except this quote; '…i’m usually a safe guy – but if u touch my knobs you can expect me to crack your skull open…' I think that's a just cause for any Skull Cracking! Riva Starr has records forthcoming on Dirtybird and Front Room, and you can get his remix of Madox's 'Plastic Fantastic on 12", along with a great remix by Jaimie Fanatic from Juno.
