Full On Fidget Frontal
Just as I was pondering over the short dry spell of Dave Taylor tunes, it pours down with the some hot new stuff in the pipeline! I must apologise to some extent for posting so much of this fidget house nonsense, and maybe I'm losing a little credibility for the blog by not being so diverse with my selections, but I know what I like and I like what I know. So, second single from their long overdue debut LP is the all set to be summer anthem 'I Believe' by the super Simian Mobile Disco featuring vocals from Simon Lord (Simian, Black Ghosts). After an incredible underground following over the past few years, highly successful sold out UK shows this year including a captivating room one performance at Fabric its only right for James and Jas to rake in some of them bucks! Mr Taylor seems to be the most sought after remixing talent in the country and he explains why with this cheeky, body moving and system stretching rework. In other Switch news the legend has also cooked up another fine remix for Ben Weestbeech's new single 'Dance With Me' which is a mesmerising ghetto bass affair that'll get you all quaking. 'Dance With Me' by Ben Westbeech is out now on Brownswood Records and is available on 12" now at Juno or Phonica. 'I Believe' by Simian Mobile Disco is released on 17th July through Wichita and available in all good record stores, and fans should expect more remixes from Prins Thomas & Girl Talk.

Speaking of Switch, Dave's ex-other-half (In a DJ/production duo kind of way of course!) Trevor Loveys has been a very busy bee lately creating some amazing productions in the form of his debut Dubsided EP, and some world class remixes for Crookers, Dub Pistols, & Claude VonStroke to name a few. I’m happy to say that I love how his style has evolved from the classy sophisticated house he made on many EPs and even an LP on Freerange and Front Room Records, to what it is today and influenced infusion of house genres which together form a great sound that I'm sure the Dubsided family welcomed with open arms! Pick up Trevor's fantastic 'Organ Grinder EP' on Dubsided now which is available at Juno and Phonica. The Dub Pistols' single 'Open' featuring an awesome remix by Trevor Loveys is out now on Sunday Best and available on 12" from Juno or Phonica or download from Juno Downloads, the latest Crookers 'Crooked To Play EP', on On The Brink Recordings again with an amazing Trevor Loveys Remix is also available to download now on Juno Downloads.

And of course a full on fidget attack wouldn't be complete without a mention of Josh Harvey. The master has loaned his skills to the awesome GoodBooks on their latest single 'The Illness'. Herve creates a very infectious fuzzy dub in the way only he can! Crazy riffs and mini vox loops a plenty here! Joining him on this remix 12" are The Teenagers with their more vocal friendly electro remix, and Tapedeck who's 'Sick' remix of 'The Illness' starts off very calm and develops some speed garage like bass lines! Definitely a very diverse remix package with a great selection of remix talents on the job. 'The Illness' (Remixes) is out now on 12" and limited copies are available to buy from Pure Groove now.

At the tender age of 19, Plimsouls is definitely heading in the right direction hitting high in the Hype Machine's most popular chart with his recent remix of Justice's 'D.A.N.C.E.'. As mentioned on his MySpace 'Using only his cunning wit and quick hands, he managed to 'invest' in a laptop, some CDJs and a copy of Ableton Live that he now sits in front of, day in, day out, piecing together various blips, blops and bleeps to satisfy the more electronically minded amongst you.' this 'different' and dedicated approach definitely pays off!

With fifteen years experience on the club circuits of Prague and throughout Europe, Tvyks still remains a very fresh faced character not only in terms of looks, but also with his attitude towards the music and the club scenes. Forgetting countless gigs and huge artist support for now, over the years he has also knocked up a few of his own records, more recently though are his productions alongside Uber Audio Bros known for their release on Get Physical. These tracks have a nice psychedelic kind of electro sound to them, and listening to them I can pick out some influence and similarities to Simian Mobile Disco. Their productions should see a release forthcoming on Plastique Records Prague and as well as a couple of MP3s to share with you, Tvyks has also sent me this exclusive mix recently put together by the man himself!

Alex Waez's musical adventures have been quite admirable over the past year. Armed only with a microphone and his own charm, has created the now well known Filthy Few Podcast, gathering musical talent from across the vast goldmine that is MySpace. The Podcast soon gave birth to some amazing live music events, and now every second Thursday of every month Filthy Few Live! takes place at Bar Music Hall, EC2, London. If you're in the area be sure to check out their Filthy Few Bootleg #1 Launch Party on Friday June 29th featuring This City, Johnny Foreigner, Dead Kids, The Ghost Frequency plus DJs Lilica Libertine, DJ Risco & Firas. Speaking of the Bootleg #1 I must have a little ramble about that! With a heavy focus on the fusion of indie and electronica this mixed compilation is a sure winner! Practically every artist and band on the tracklisting is unknown to me, but the selection of tracks is completely on top with some amazing indie sounds from Bad Dancer, Stealth Disco and Johnny Foreigner, and some fresh electric gems from acts like Dance Lazarus Dance and Toxic Avenger. Compiled and mixed by Firas, the Filthy Few Bootleg #1 is out now and available to pre-order from Pure Groove Records now for a mere £5! Subscribe to the Podcast here.

Native Philadelphians Plastic Little, are known for 'Getting Silly In Philly' with their dirty pop rapping and production and now they've loaned their silliness to some remix work too with these impressive tracks. First up Just Jack, who always seems to be on Radio 1 every single time I turn the damn thing on! and also Dub Pistols' track 'Open' which yes, was mentioned just a few lines up. 'Open' by Dub Pistols is available @ Juno as 12" or download.

This Shit Is Bananas
Pleasure to hear this mighty new New Young Pony Club remix this week and surprise surprise, Josh Harvey is responsible much like a hell of a lot of the other music that I blog about. The production is so tight, as usual with Herve's masterful use of vocals, this is cutting edge with today's grimey/electro sounds, and his records are definitely worth every penny. Herve's other recent remix of the delightful Roisin Murphy is quite a contrast too, with a lot of vocals and a huge breakdown, but don't worry the crazy riffs and ghetto bass lines are definitely still in attendance! New Young Pony Club's 'Ice Cream' with remixes from Herve and The Hooks is out now on Modular and available from Phonica. 'Overpowered' by Roisin Murphy with remixes from Herve, Kris Menace & Loose Cannons is set for release on July 2nd.

NY rapping legend Pharoahe Monch is returning with a new album 'Desire' and what better way to mark this than with its first single 'Body Baby'. This Elvis-inspired track fuses Monch's gifted & provocative lyrics with Vegas/Hip Hop to form an anthem in the making. Deservedly getting to number 2 in my charts this month was the amazing Sinden & Count Of Monte Cristal's stomping house remix, but also on the remix job are Glaswegian treasures Optimo Espacio who create a Psychedelic Vegas trip topped off with them soulful backing vocals that give it a unique 60s cabaret feel! 'Body Baby' by Pharoahe Monch with remixes from Sinden & Count Of Monte Cristal and Optimo (Espacio) is out on Island Records and available on 19th June.

Following the great success of their debut compilation rookie record label I Can Count have released Volume 2. Gathering unknown artists from across the UK and North America they have once again created a highly commendable mix of music that is very cutting edge and on par with the latest music in similar genres from the bigger labels. The CD is a bit of mixed bag of genres featuring tracks that go well on a quiet summers day and those that would be more suited hammered on a dance floor. I guess threre is something for everyone here, especially if you like to discover new bands and artists. I Can Count Volume 2. is out now and available from icancount.co.uk for a mere £4!

I must admit this next track isn't something I discovered by myself. In fact it came recommended to me by none other than James Talk, who sent an email praising the blog and I'm so glad he did. Released by Front Room, a label I'm no stranger to, who have had many fine releases by artists like Jesse Rose, Trevor Loveys and Solid Groove, this record is something to get excited about. I snapped it up immediately after hearing some samples and was very fond of the sound that reminded me of some of Dave Taylor and Trevor Lovey's earlier tracks, and the vocal samples are the icing on the cake, reaching not to far back for Justin Timberlake's 'My Love'. The JT and Timbaland vocal snippets work a treat on the 'Nice' version and are out in force on the 'Naughty' A side. 'Keep Quiet' by Deadset is out now on Front Room Recordings and is available to buy now from Juno.

Vivek Shraya is an independent musician from Toronto who has a very nice blended sound of indie-dance-pop inspired by many nights on the town in Montreal and by acts like Goldfrapp, Diplo, Prince and Peaches. His latest release 'If We're Not Talking' is a delightful little album that shall go down well in these upcoming summer months and is a mix of laid back pop and electric grooves that could easily make Vivek Shraya one of Canada's next major pop acts. 'If We're Not Talkin' by Vivek Shekra is out now and available to purchase from his website vivekshraya.com

Newly setup label Prestel Records has learned a lot of lessons from Breastfed Records, mainly because one of Mylo's partners is running it! But them years with Breastfed has defiantly given them an acquired taste for good new music. This is proved with their next release by Ex-Melbourne Now-London residents Cobra Dukes and their single 'Leave The Light On'. This is interesting indie music with a clever backup of remixes to suit the DJs and Bloggers out there! Also with a flashy remix from Knightlife and already being played by Mylo, Touche and Punks Jump Up I'm sure this label will gain their success.

Back To Old Tricks
Another great month for fidget house music with some splendid new music out by Harvey, Loveys and Sinden. But strangely nothing new from Dave Taylor these last 2 weeks which is strange with that guys insane workload and production rate! I'm sure he's very busy producing somewhere and just a matter of time before his masterful sounds surface yet again (The new M.I.A. album would be a good place to look!). Anyway like some kind of crazy chain link fence these 3 fables of fidget all seem to get together in one group or another with Loveys & Harvey as Speaker Junk and Sinden & Harvey on their Sinden & Count Of Monte Cristal EPs. Recently the first named duo have remixed the latest Bloc Party single with sluggish vocals and pumping bass, check below for a preview. Sinden on his lonesome has also been busy with hot new remixes for Lady Sovereign and Elektrons, but this post is more about whats to come really... Soon to be out on Dubsided is Trevor Loveys' debut solo EP for the label with the title track 'Organ Grinder' that samples DJ Shadow's illustrious 'Organ Donor', and another soon to be released Counterfeet EP from Sinden & Count Of Monte Cristal with their 'Everybody Rocking EP' that includes their renowned underground hit 'Beeper' and other equally as awesome Sinden & Harvey B sides! Head on over to The Knocks Family's new blog 'Knock Out Sounds' now to get a fuller preview of this awesome EP! If the promise of these great EPs isn't quite enough, then Herve has also been been busy with new remixes for you to look out for including Roisin Murphy's new single 'Overpowered', New Young Pony Club's 'Ice Cream, and even with Sinden they have remixed the funky new single from Pharoahe Monch which is very 'Beeper-esq' to me.. 'Organ Grinder' by Trevor Loveys is forthcoming on Dubsided and available to pre-order @ HTFR, and the Sinden & Counte Of Monte Cristal EP 'Everybody Rocking' is coming soon through Counterfeet Records.

This next record is absolutely filthy and dirty. Not in a musical description kind of way, but in a bad language kind of way. My mother wouldn't be to happy if she overheard this one playing, so if you're easily offended or have small kids in the room i wouldn't recommend playing it. If you don't give a crap and like good music on the other hand listen to this track from the new Golden Bug single. Blissful cowbells, and overdrive bass synths are a plenty in this foul mouthed frenzy, while B side 'St Tropez' is more relaxed fitting in to Gomma's expected style of funky electronica. 'Barbie's Back/St. Tropez' by Golden Bug is out now on Gomma and available to buy from Phonica, or also available to download from DJDownload.

Mr Oizo has finally been given the starting gunshot to unleash his debut EP for everybody's favourite (and I mean EVERYBODY these days) Ed Banger Records. The long awaited 'Patrick122/Transexual' EP not only features the amazing extended saxophone version of 'Patrick122', but 3 other brand new tracks to boot, so expect some new freaky Oizoness in this package. 'Patrick122/Transexual' by Mr Oizo is available to download now from Bleep!, and is forthcoming on 12" on Ed Banger Records.

New Wave New Yorkers Holy Hail have a new EP out with an attractive selection of remixes accompanying it. Their 'Big Guns EP' is out now on Kanine Records and is the band's first US release. Title track 'Big Guns' gets the full remix attention on this EP with a nice remix from Ex Trash (RIP) resident Rory Phillips, and a hotter pumped up mix Dave Pianka and Adam Sparkles who have been doing the rounds recently with their rave inspired electro mixes. The 'Big Guns EP' by Holy Hail is out now through Kanine Records and is also available to download on iTunes.

Ive been patiently waiting for someone to remix the brilliant Cold War Kids, as I'm a huge fan of their album and it was my pleasure to discover this excellent mix from electro heavyweight Hostage. Although this type of electro isn't usually to my tastes, i cant help but really like this track becuase like the Cold War Kids original, it is so catchy, and the lead singer of the band provides such great vocals. I highly recommend the album 'Robbers & Cowards' by Cold War Kids, but it from Amazon.

The Australians have definitely shown the world that they can make music just as good as the rest of us with the huge success of Van She, Bagraiders, The Bang Gang and all the other Aussies that shot to fame last year with their infectious blog house music. Well here's a new Aussie act to keep an eye on. Damage On The Backseat has been busy producing their own music and a whole host of remixes including this blissful mesmerising mix of 'My Moon My Man' by Feist. Check out his MySpace to hear more from Damage On The Backseat.
